Loving and being loved is one of the most wonderful feelings that you can have – it makes you enter into a state of well being and fills your heart with such bliss that you never want it to end. Thus, when you realize that your relationship might be at its fag end and there might be no way you can salvage it, you go through a period of intense pain and suffering – a personal hell out of which it seems hard to come out.
However impossible it may sound to you right now, rest assured that very soon you will get over this pain and you will learn to enjoy your life again – this time without the person you fell in love with. You see, there are a few stages that any person has to go through after a break up and once you are over these four stages, your life with gain back its normalcy by and by.
Stage One: The shock
You had once thought that everything was going perfectly in your relationship and the two of you were happy together. This is why the announcement of the break up from out of the blue came as a rude shock to you. You had never expected this to happen and as such, but this feeling of shock is a normal part of the healing process.
Stage Two: The Denial
After the initial shock comes the denial. Even though your partner was clear about his/her intention of breaking up, you refuse to let yourself believe that this is really happening to you. You still believe that your partner shall change his/her mind and tell you that the break up was a mistake. However, this is not something that is going to happen and you need to accept that your relationship is really over – no matter how much this knowledge hurts you. If you do not accept and keep denying the break up you shall never be able to bring your life back on track.
Stage Three: The depression
Once you have begun to accept the inevitability of the break up, you will see the depression kicking into your life. After all, who would not be depressed at the end of something so wonderful? However, you should not allow your depression to eat you away. Cry a few tears, spend a sleepless night or two – but after that, move on!
Stage Four: The Acceptance
Yes, that is right, you are ultimately going to accept your situation and allow yourself to move on. You will not be wallowing in your sadness forever. Eventually, you will realize that the wonderful relationship that you had is over and you shall have the power in you to count your blessings and move on in life. You shall be able to take the good memories of the relationship and probably even be ready to being dating all over again.
